Frequently Asked Questions

How do you determine how many containers will fit in a truck?

A truckload of containers is about 7500 units a #1 container being one unit, a #2 two units, a #5 five units, a #15 is twenty five units, and a #25 is fifty units. For a partial load we allocate 150 units per foot of trailer space.

When can you dig your B&B trees?

We usually start digging at the beginning of October and will stop digging mid March, with a few varieties allowing us to dig till end of March. Flowering plums, flowering cherries, and flowering pears will break dormancy earlier and have to be dug by mid to late February.

Should wire baskets be removed?

Wire baskets are very important in maintaining the integrity of the root-ball during the harvest, shipping and placement of the tree in the planting hole.

Because of the potential damage to the root-ball by removing the wire basket, we suggest it should be left. However, all twine should be removed from around the trunk, and the burlap pulled away from the trunk and folded down. After the tree is placed and straightened, the top ring or rings of the wire basket can be carefully cut away, as long as the root-ball remains intact..
